This basic investment product offers a variety of deposit options and terms to meet the needs of our member credit unions. A credit union can invest as little as $1,000 for a term of one day up to five years. Corporate America’s certificate of deposit rates change daily and are adjusted to provide credit unions with competitive yields. Interest can be paid monthly, semi-annually, or at maturity and is automatically deposited into the Corporate Funds Account.
Per Reg 704.8(c), a corporate credit union that permits early certificate/share withdrawals must assess market-based penalties sufficient to cover the estimated replacement cost of the certificate redeemed. This means the minimum penalty must be reasonably related to the rate that the corporate credit union would be required to offer to attract funds for a similar term with similar characteristics.
